Lessons from nature

I heard this verse in my spirit while I was running this morning….Isaiah 59:19 (KJV)

19 So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.

After running for quite some time, I circled around the retention pond only to come upon a momma, daddy and two baby ducklings.  Or they may have been geese.  I didn’t stop to examine exactly what type of waterfowl they were.  I’m not sure if it was the mama or the daddy, but one of them began to hiss violently at me.  I didn’t make any eye contact but I am sure that the hissing one was staring me down warning me to stay away from their babies.  I quickly passed and I could still hear the hissing for quite some time.

Waterfowl have that natural tendency to defend themselves against any human or pet who impose as a threat to them and their babies. An aggressive adult goose can easily knock down a child or a senior citizen. So it is best to stay away from an angry goose.

I was reflecting on how the Lord must feel when the enemy comes at His kids like a flood!  According to Psalm 91 we can abide under His shadow and He will cover us under His wings.

Psalm 91:1-4 (KJV)

1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

Baby Goslings are only in the nest one day and they can fly within 55 days of birth. This is to insure that they have a better chance of survival.

If you have recently felt like God pushed you out of the nest before you were ready it is likely for your benefit.  Between removal from the nest and flying time there is an interim where the parent waterfowl stay within inches of their babies.  That is how I believe the Lord stays close to us.

Whether you are experiencing a trial that feels like unfamiliar territory or you are embarking on a new adventure with God, just be assured that He is right there with you.  The Holy Spirit is inside of you.  His angels are with you and He has His gaze set upon you.
Proverbs 15:3

The eyes of the Lord are in every place,
Watching the evil and the good [in all their endeavors].

If you are concerned about anything today, just remember that your Daddy, God never looks away from you.  If you feel like you are under attack begin to thank God that He is already raising up a standard against the enemy.  He is your front and rear guard.

Be Blessed
