The Language Of Agreement

There has been so much talk in the body of Christ this year about unity.  I think we all understand that unity is vitally important for revival.  I think one step in getting unified is understanding the language of agreement.   http://www.thefreedictionary.com defines agreement as:      a•gree•ment

(əˈgri mənt)

n.

1. the act of agreeing or of coming to a mutual arrangement.
2. the state of being in accord.
3. an arrangement that is accepted by all parties to a transaction.
4. a contract or other document delineating such an arrangement.

This year God is teaching me a deeper level of my own physical body, my mind (soul) and my spirit coming into greater agreement with each other.  The soul consists of the mind (which includes the conscience), the will and the emotions.

As Joyce Meyer’s often says, “The battlefield begins in our minds.”  If I can get my mind in agreement with what the Holy Spirit is saying, it’s much easier to get my body to come along for the ride!  So as this three-part being (spirit, body and soul), we spend much of our time trying to get them to come into agreement with each other, whether we realize it or not.

I am not making an excuse for us, but it’s no wonder we have so much trouble agreeing with each other when we have enough trouble trying to get our own 3-part self to come into peaceful agreement.  If the thoughts going on in our mind are in opposition to our body and re-generated spirit, we have a war going on inside.

One way we can smooth out our journey is to understand that the Holy Spirit and the Word of God agree with each other.  Anything that you think you are hearing from the Spirit can certainly be cross-confirmed by checking out God’s Word and seeking out some wise counsel.  If what you are hearing in your mind doesn’t line up, replace that voice with a scripture that will replace the thought.
A practical example for me would be that my mind started to convince my body that I could only run a certain distance.  When I started to listen to my body, I realized I could run much further.  I then had to replace the incorrect, negative thought in my mind with a positive statement that was lining up with the Word; such as, “I can do all things though Christ who strengthens me.”  My distance has increased dramatically since then.
There is no disagreement in heaven.  The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are in agreement and so is the Spirit, the water and the blood.
1 John 5:8
the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.
Since we have the authority to call the kingdom of heaven to earth, we can rest assured that we have at our disposal everything we need to bring our own 3-part selves into agreement with heaven.  Especially since we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us.
Matthew 6:10
‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
I am thinking that if we want unity for revival, and judgement begins in the house of the Lord, then let’s get in touch with what agreement means within ourselves.  This way we will have the capacity to encourage each other to allow God to continue the good work He has begun in each one of us.  This will make unity in the body more attainable.
Regarding the body of Christ as a whole,  we are to follow this same model.  This means we should be of the same mind in the same body (of Christ), guided by the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 1:10 (NASB)
Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Lastly, the most important aspect of unity and agreement is love.  It’s hard to love anyone else when you don’t love yourself.  Let’s Love ourselves and love the body of Christ, so we can turn around and love the world with authenticity.
Colossians 3:14-15

14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

 Be Blessed
