As an American blogger, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention 9/11 at some point this week. Most of you are old enough to remember exactly where you were and how you responded to the terrorists attack on that tragic day.
I was thrilled to learn yesterday that this became an official day of remembrance in 2009. Good Lord, where have I been? Sometimes I hear things and they don’t quite register right away. Anyway, if you have been living under a rock (like I apparently have been), we as citizens of the U.S. are encouraged to look for volunteer opportunities in our town or to do a good deed at some point during this week.
I love this idea and have actually been practicing this on 9/11 for the past few years without even realizing it had become a thing. Why did I start to do this? For the past 5 years, I have been seeing the numbers 911 everywhere. Especially on the clock. The first time it started to happen was somewhere around the beginning of January, 2010. By August of that year, I began to really ask the Lord what He was trying to reveal to me. I felt Him leading me to turn September 11th around into a day of victory for Him. The way I felt His leading that year was wonderful. When the morning of September 11th rolled around, I felt my faith for healing miracles rise up to a new level! I was excited as I heard the Holy Spirit tell me to speak life, liberty and healing into everyone I spoke to that day. This verse was alive in me that day:
Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!
I saw many miracles that day, but I want to give Jesus some praise about my favorite. He healed a woman who had to have iron therapy IV’s. He caused her iron level to come back up to normal supernaturally so she wouldn’t have to have these treatments anymore! Prior to her healing it was necessary every 3 months.
I love that we have adopted the idea of service and remembrance day as a country. As Christians, we have something even more valuable to offer people this week and everyday that we walk on this earth. We have the kingdom of heaven and all of its benefits to share in service to others.
Matthew 10:7New Living Translation (NLT) 7 Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near.
In my opinion, there is no better way to give the enemy a black eye than to bring healing to the hurting this week. Remember that with every step you take as a believer, you are carrying the Kingdom of Heaven (and it’s authority) with you. Let’s also choose to walk in the compassion of Christ and be the hands, feet, eyes, ears and mouth of Jesus in everyone’s lives we encounter this week.
