The Last Thing

One of the places in my life where I have had difficulty transitioning over to technology is in the area of a things to do list.  I have spoken with many people who still enjoy jotting down their tasks to be accomplished on paper instead of on their phone.  They love the satisfaction of being able to cross off their items, line by line, as they work throughout their day.  It gives them a feeling of moving forward with what they are suppose to be doing.

Lists are very important for most people who have a life filled with family, friends, work, activities, etc.  With all of the busyness of our lives, the most important items can fall off the list quite easily.  What are they?  Ask yourself this question, “What is the last thing God asked me to do that I have not yet done?”  If you are not sure, ask the Holy Spirit to pull it up in your mind.  Chances are good that you may have three to five things that the Holy Spirit has prompted you to do that you have been putting off.  Honestly, you may have completely forgotten about it until now.  This happens to me often enough that I have begun to ask myself this question monthly.  Something will inevitably pop up in my spirit that I forgot to do.  Something popped up in my spirit as I was running this morning.

If you have been stuck in a rut and feel like you are going nowhere regarding a job, family situation, relationship, ministry, etc stop and asked the Holy Spirit if there was something He asked you to do that you forgot or that you just didn’t recognize was His leading.  I feel bad for God sometimes because He gets blamed for our situation or circumstances so often and really we are the ones who are holding ourselves back.  How can He move us forward if we didn’t do that last thing He asked us to do.  We are the ones holding up the progress.  Then we complain to Him and ask the why questions, when often times we are the culprit.  As a counselor there are times when I have to tell people that we can’t move forward with counseling until the last thing they were suppose to do gets accomplished.  It’s the same scenario with the Lord.  Often times He will send people to give you the same message He has been trying to tell you directly (confirmation).

John 14:16New King James Version (NKJV)
16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—

God loved us so much that after He sacrificed His Son then He sent the Comforter, Counselor and Helper to be with us 24/7.  We owe it to Him to pay attention to His list of things to do today even before our own list is accomplished. Press in with God today to see if you missed the last thing(s) He asked you to do.

Be Blessed
