Life has been very interesting these first six months of 2015. Transition in America is happening at the speed of light in the spiritual and the natural realm. I have to devote one blog just for the month of April because of it’s importance.
April – Wounded people will go wherever they are accepted. We all understand this on some level, but this point was driven home in me through a variety of examples in the Spring. We all were created with a God-shaped hole that only He can fill. Until we accept this, we will run to every other thing to find acceptance so we can feel as though we belong to something or someone. We will run to gangs, other religions with dead gods, witchcraft, etc. In April, I witnessed a large group of beautiful people heavily ensconced in new age practices because of the wounding that was done to them as children at home and in the church. These individuals haven’t been healed because they don’t understand that the only healer is Jesus. If where they came from represented Jesus poorly and the role models in their church or family were not great examples of love, they usually don’t want anything to do with the One who can set them free. This is why it is so important for us to welcome people in whatever state of woundedness they are currently in and show them the Jesus who did not exclude those who needed healing.
Mark 2:17New Living Translation (NLT) 17 When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
A lot of these folks were hurt by religion. We must be pressing in to God to disentangle us from every Pharisaical/religious spirit that would keep up from showing the love of Christ. Then the true Messiah can shine through to those who once were wounded in the name of Jesus.
So where are these people and how do we reach them? They are in your own family, your workplace, fellow parents at school, social activities, etc. We need to be close enough to them to show the love and shine the light. These individuals need to see peace, love and profound change in our own lives. They will begin to recognize that only God can make positive, long lasting changes.
Romans 12:2 [Full Chapter]
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Where I really see the body of Christ getting tripped up right now is in their inability to show love and acceptance without stumbling over into compromise. We have gotten so busy trying to show the love without judgement that some of the body is presenting a compromised Christ who goes against His own word. We can’t water down our Savior. He came to cleanse people of their sin, heal us up and teach us how to walk in purity. We have made this way more complicated than it has to be. We need to be willing to stand up and say what the Word says, yet encourage people that we are all struggling with things and Jesus has the way out for you and for me. We can’t embrace the sin. That’s not love, that’s compromising Christ. I believe this will begin to separate the sheep from the goats (If you don’t know what that means, read your bible more).
The wounded stay in their sin and aren’t healed because the world accepts them and tells them it’s not sin. Why would they even want to change? They have found others who embrace their pain and their sin. They haven’t had the privilege of tasting the amazing freedom with healing and deliverance in Jesus.
I also witnessed a group of people who consider themselves spiritually dead, run after encounters with dead people. They desire the dark side of a spiritual relationship and finds mediums intriguing, not understanding that they are opening themselves up to the demonic realm including depression, oppression, and various illnesses. Even though some of them say they believe in nothing, they are still running after spiritual things. They don’t understand that they were born spiritual beings and will drive themselves to fill that need even if it means darkness and demonic activity. They desperately need a supernatural encounter with the living God!
1 Peter 2:9 New King James Version (NKJV)
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
This scripture tells us that we need to proclaim the praises of the one who called us into His marvelous light. I am praying that more Christians will be transparent about their own struggles and share with the wounded how God brought them out of their sins and into freedom with Him! Comment on what God has delivered you from, if you are willing to be bold today.
