Like many of you, I love my cell phone and can barely remember what it was like to not have it. One of my favorite benefits of a smart phone are all the many choices of apps! My personal favs are the bible apps, weather apps and my trusty alarm clock. Life is so much more convenient with this technology.
There are so many innovative apps for running, but I chose from the beginning to not follow a plan laid out by an app. I run guided by the Holy Spirit. I refer to this as my faithful H.S. app. I have never gotten injured (except when I fell when I was not listening and pushing own self), and God has been faithful to heal my feet, knees, hips and back as a result.
If you are a believer, the H.S. app is already downloaded on your spiritual hard drive.
Here are some of my favorite Holy Spirit scriptures to point us to that truth:
John 14:26 But when the Father sends the Comforter instead of me*—and by the Comforter I mean the Holy Spirit—he will teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I myself have told you.
Romans 8:16 For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we really are God’s children.
1 John 4:13 And he has put his own Holy Spirit into our hearts as a proof to us that we are living with him and he with us.
The Holy Spirit should be our “go to” application that we utilize from the moment we open our eyes in the morning until we close our eyes to sleep at night. If not, we can guarantee ourselves that we are going to make “fleshy” choices all day long.
Romans 8:5 Those who let themselves be controlled by their lower natures live only to please themselves, but those who follow after the Holy Spirit find themselves doing those things that please God.
Just like you, I have chosen to ignore Him when He has advised me to stop talking, not volunteer to participate in an event or activity, not eat the third piece of cake (yes, I absolutely love cake), etc.
Galatians 5:16 I advise you to obey only the Holy Spirit’s instructions. He will tell you where to go and what to do, and then you won’t always be doing the wrong things your evil nature wants you to.
Galatians 5:25 If we are living now by the Holy Spirit’s power, let us follow the Holy Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.
If like myself, you are running after Jesus wanting to do His will, then it becomes easier to tell the flesh “no” and listen to the Holy Spirit. This is a natural benefit of maturing in your walk with God.
Galatians 5:22 But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
What fruit are you choosing to produce today?
