Learning to walk before you can run….

The last time I went out for a run was November 8th when I posted “the branches”.  Little did I know that when God was speaking to me about the pruning process that day that I would be going through some serious pruning of my own.  On the morning of November 9th when I found that my precious husband had gone home to be with the Lord overnight while I slept, I felt the most intense cutting back of my own branches than I had ever experienced in my lifetime.  I had many verses running through my spirit this week as our family has coped with the shock and grief of such a sudden and profound loss.  One of them was

Romans 8:28New Living Translation (NLT)

28 And we know that God causes everything to work together[a] for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

I have already seen so much good coming from such a tragic loss that I could not even write them all down in one blog and it’s only been a little over a week.  I have seen relationships be restored and some of my husband’s spiritual sons and daughters take up the pieces of his mantle and go continue the work that he began.  I am grateful to have something good to focus on while I and my children are hurting so intensely.

Today was the first day that I could even think about getting back to running.  I was so fragile this past week that even ascending a flight of steps would cause heart palpitations.  As I sensed the Lord reminding me that you have to learn to walk before you can run, I went back to a light schedule of training this morning and knowing that He has me.  Even though this journey is hard for all of us on this earth, we can rely on His promises to bring us safely home to our destination.

Isaiah 40:31New Living Translation (NLT)

31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Be blessed

  5. Donna,
They were such beautiful words to share especially at such a difficult time .You are an amazing sweet lady . Tom and I were so sorry to hear about Eric. He was so special! We were reminiscing about when you guys first came to Praise and how we watched you grow in the Lord . The Lord even used Eric to pray with Tom as he was seeking the Lord for direction which ultimately led us to start a ministry in Pa. He has left a legacy that has affected a lot of people’s lives. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the kids.
    Bless you
    Kathy and Tom
