Reconstructing the temple

Today’s verse is 1 Corinthians 3:16 AMP

Do you not discern and understand that your are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit has His permanent dwelling in you.

Even though I have only been running on a consistent basis for 6 months, I have been curious about it as a long term exercise plan for many years.  I ran on and off in the past but never for more than a month or two.  When God called me to begin running 3 times per week, He said He would heal my body as I ran.  I am a healthy person for my age.  I am not on any pharmaceuticals and go the natural route whenever I have any health concerns.  Most of my physical issues stem from accidents from my past.  I have had whiplash three times, a few knee issues, some small bones in my right foot bother me from time to time and I have a compromised hip from a car accident that I had when I was in my 20’s.  I consider all of it “no big deal” when I see the medical issues that other people are confronted with daily and I have always thanked God for my good health.

When I get a word from God, I don’t usually understand every detail of what He is saying to me, so as I ventured out, I really didn’t know what type of healing I was gonna get!  After about 3 weeks, I felt led to google a few articles on the benefits of running. I was so excited to learn that running actually strengthened everyone of my above  mentioned minor ailments.  running strengthens ankles, knees, hips, the spine, your core and shoulders!  I had a trapped thought in my mind that running actually wore down those body parts.  I knew those articles were God’s way of encouraging me to continue on.  (I am attaching the link to one of those articles below.)

As time marched forward, I began to feel the strengthening and healing happening from the ground up.  My feet and ankles were strengthened first, then I noticed how much stronger my knees felt as I pounded the pavement.  My hips have improved so much that movements that use to cause me pain no longer do.

Physical structures like houses, churches, etc are always built from the ground up.  Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit.  It only makes sense to me that He in healing my body from the feet and moving upward.

As you meditate on this verse today, ask Him what areas of your temple are in need of repair?  He is faithful in reconstructing us for His glory.

Be blessed
