“Yes” signs

Yes_stop_sign-1Each time I venture out with God as my trainer, He pushes me just a little bit more and increases my fitness level. He knows what is best for me.  One of my surprises early on in my new run/walk training was how far I could push myself and still feel really great!

I run in a few connecting neighborhoods.  There are many different route possibilities as well as countless points of interest and  much nature to observe along the way.  As my instructions are being poured into me along my route, many times a stop sign waaayyyyy down the road is my final goal before I can walk again and catch my breathe.  In the beginning when I would realize how far in the distance I needed to run to reach a sign, I would be groaning inside.  Many times my legs were feeling a little weak and I would feel as though I wouldn’t be able to make it that far without literally gasping for breath and wanting to collapse on the ground.  One day as I was quite a distance from my designated stop sign, I got a vision of the word on the sign turning from “stop” to the word “yes!!”.  I knew that this was His way of telling me that even though I thought I could never make it that far, He knew I could!  I heard myself whisper “yes” under my breathe and kept my eyes on my new sign in my mind until I reached the goal.  I was amazed at how far I could go with the vision firmly planted in my mind. I am reminded that the bible says in

Proverbs 29:18

Where there is no vision [no redemptive revelation of God], the people perish; but he who keeps the law [of God, which includes that of man]—blessed (happy, fortunate, and enviable) is he.

That vision was a redemptive revelation for me that I could do what He said I could do.  It’s such a small thing to run to a particular stop sign in the scheme of my whole life.  The lesson is the key.  When God gives us a vision (big or small) life changing or just some little challenge for the day , we can be sure that He will help us fulfill it.

Be blessed
